Myths and facts of futures market trading – The Borneo Post(Investor Seminar News)

Monday 29 December 2008 @ 2:14 am

With futures trading maturing over the decentralised forward trading of commodities, this form of fair market practice progressed well into the seventh decade of the last century, when the futures industry moved into developing financial futures products as a way to offset investment risks for economic portfolio. Today, futures markets have become so popular and an essential market vehicle for a product as long as the underlying contract has sufficient volume to satisfy supply and demand in the open markets, and to generate price fluctuations. As the prices of the futures market follow the benchmark of the underlying (known as ?spot? or ?cash?) products, there must be underlying instrument to every futures product to induce the fluctuations of price movements based on the variables of investor?s sentiments, supply and demand factors etc. In futures trading, ?basis point? refers to the difference of futures prices less spot price. Futures trading has an inherent high risk factor or high leverage of low capitalisation that relies on smart fund management to ride out projected prices in the market. read more

Friday 26 December 2008 @ 10:57 pm

At a conference held on Expanding the International School Model in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this week, the city’s Department of Education and Training (DoET) said the schools have many shortcomings. Although the schools employ around 1,000 teachers, including 530 foreign teachers with university degrees, conference’s participants said many international schools were still hiring teachers without any educational expertise. Nguyen Hoang Viet, principal of Phu Nhuan High School, said the ministry and department of education have yet to provide a clear-cut definition of international schools, so the public has no idea about their quality and the standard of education provided. Minh said the city’s education department will organize a seminar next year on infrastructure for establishing schools in HCMC, including private and international schools. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, as of last year, 70 percent of international schools in Vietnam were run by embassies, international organizations and foreign investors. read more

(Investor Seminar News) No Bailout for Jihad – FrontPage magazine.com

Tuesday 23 December 2008 @ 6:30 pm

In this case, the USG is actively promoting, through its ownership and absolute control of AIG, not just a religious law, but a theo-political doctrine that seeks the destruction of the religious liberty enshrined and protected by the First Amendment. Second, the very Shariah authorities who have the legitimacy to be Shariah board members for such an international concern are themselves advocates of violent jihad or they are the students and disciples of such Shariah authorities. For example, AIG employs Mufti Imran Usmani, who is the son, student and disciple of Mufti Taqi Usmani, the very authority who sat on the Dow Jones Islamic Index Shariah advisory board for almost 10 years beginning in 1999 and who wrote a book and had it translated into English also in 1999 which called on western Muslims to rise up and engage in violent jihad against the West. Then these Shariah authorities must examine each investment AIG makes to be certain that the company receiving the investment is Shariah compliant (e. One, a decision by the court that the USG must either get out of AIG or AIG must get out of Shariah. Two, we want to force the USG, especially the Treasury, to confront Shariah and the fact that it is not just some religious law about not taking interest or selling alcohol. read more

With the onset of liberalisation in the early 1990’s, numerous manufacturing firms suddenly found themselves under siege from cheaper imports. Local banks are bracing for a fierce “talent war” as players prepare to implement the global banking accord, Basel 11 Compliance, considered more compatible with global standards in bulk finance and risk management transactions. The proposed development of a spectacular “Golf City” in the heartland of Nairobi has started to face legal hurdles even before the expiry of the February 10 deadline for submission of bids from interested investors. The proposed Common Market for East and Southern Africa (Comesa) Customs Union (CU) has flopped, after heads of states in the region failed to meet for the third time this year. read more

About: Investor Seminar News – : The Ten Commandments of Real Estate Investing Podcast #15 – NewsReleaseWire.com (press release)

Sunday 21 December 2008 @ 4:52 pm

We do not recommend any LLCs, partnerships, tenant-in-common deals, real estate investment trusts, and we certainly don?t recommend Wall Street and stocks because in any of those things, you relinquish control to somebody else. Over the last 21 years that I?ve been in the real estate business, I have made millions of dollars locally in real estate, just right here in Orange County. Back in 1989, I owned several rental properties here in Orange County and I was a busy, successful realtor in Orange County, running around listing and selling properties for people, and we went into this seven-year downturn in the real estate market here when Reagan ended the Cold War. When you look at the news media, when you watch CNBC or whatever news media, or open a magazine or a newspaper, the gurus and the experts on the real estate market try to paint real estate with a broad national brush and you can?t do that. Real estate is a local type of investment, so it?s a bunch of difference localities that make up the real estate market. read more
