BUENOS AIRES, Aug 27 (Reuters) – Argentina’s government sought on Wednesday to dispel doubts about its financing outlook, but ruled out reopening a 2005 debt swap for “holdout” creditors who rejected the restructuring. Investor concern over Argentina’s ability to meet its funding needs has grown this month since the center-left government sold $1 billion in 2015 bonds to Venezuela in a direct sale, with a high yield of 14. Despite the market jitters, Argentina has trade and budget surpluses, $47 billion in foreign reserves, and the economy has grown rapidly since a sharp crisis in 2001-02, which culminated in its historic $100 billion debt default. Massa, speaking at a business seminar, denied newspaper reports that the government was considering a proposal to reopen the 2005 debt restructuring, in which Argentina offered 25 cents on the dollar to creditors. STAVANGER, Norway (Reuters) – Oil-rich Norway is pushing ahead with plans to use part of its $400 billion sovereign wealth fund to invest in renewable energy development, a deputy finance minister said on Monday. The idea to divide the wealth fund, officially named the Government Pension Fund — Global, and siphon off part of it to invest in environmental projects has been criticized by Norway’s central bank, which runs the fund for the government. This spring Norway began an evaluation of the fund’s ethical guidelines, including the possibility of earmarking some of the cash for special purposes such as investing in environmental technology firms. Norges Bank has said diverting the fund’s cash for environmentally-friendly investment would clash with its effort to base investment on financial criteria, and the government should tap its own budget if it wants to fund such ventures. read more

Huge sales were seen yesterday, with investors likely cashing in their profits after 10 straight days of increases leading up to Tuesday, and the daily trading band loosened for the domestic stock market on Monday.
